Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) JH-503 “The Round Chair” in solid oak. Perhaps the most famous Danish chair of all time, this chair was the culmination of Wegner’s life work. Designed in 1949, Hans Wegner presented this chair at the 23rd edition (1949) of the annual Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibition at the Design Museum Denmark. Nicknamed “The Chair” by the Americans, Wegner, in his modesty, always referred to it as the “Round One.” Marked and produced by master cabinetmaker Johannes Hansen.
